Oct 23, 2012 · Regarding HK416 and OTB, per info I got from HK, since HK416A2 all variants are OTB rated. Actually "A2" designation was given when OTB became standard feature (A1 was given when firing pin safety was added). Before "A2" OTB was "special order feature". BTW OTB applies only to complete rifles, so "A2" upper on other lower is not OTB. I'm thinking about spending $4000 + on an HK416 10.5'' upper receiver and also the HK416 stock. The barrel retains the thicker SOCOM profile and original Hk markings. The barrel work was completed by d.NoScoE30. One thing that is clear is the MR556 is not simply lacking the chrome. With the bore sizes being the same as the 416, adding any chrome to an MR556 barrel will take it out of tolerance. Make sure you know the difference between pin gauge classes, and + and - sizes if you are ordering pin gauges.
